Degenerative Disc Disease

Degenerative Disc Disease refers to spinal degeneration that can occur as we age. Rather than an actual “disease,” it’s actually the result of the breakdown of the vertebral disc and surrounding structures. It’sa very common cause of chronic lower back and neck pain, and patients who have Degenerative Disc Disease usually have frequent episodes of severe pain, and symptoms can worsen if it goes untreated.

At Regenerative Sports, Spine and Spa, our goal is to look at the whole person to determine where chronic pain is occurring. We have seen great success treating chronic pain caused by Degenerative Disc Disease using the following regenerative medical treatments:

  • PRP (Platlet Rich Plasma) Therapy: using a patient’s own blood, we take platlets, concentrate, condense and then process them, using growth factors from inside the platlets, which we then re-inject into the patient’s damaged tissue to stimulate tissue healing.
  • Platelet Lysate (PL) – A stem cell therapy, which is PRP’s more advanced cousin in a way. It’s very anti-inflammatory, so it can be used around nerves, and can offer relief for lower back pain, neck pain, or buttock and leg pain.

At Regenerative Sports, Spine and Spa, we have a wide variety of treatment options including regenerative medicine, and also radiofrequency nerve ablation, SI (Sacroiliac Joint) and facet joint injections, as well as corticosteroid injections to relieve pain.

If you are experiencing moderate to severe joint pain, please contact our office to schedule a personal and private consultation. We look forward to hearing about your struggles with joint pain and developing a treatment plan specific to your needs.
