Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave Therapy

What is it?

Shockwave Therapy, also known as extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT), is a non-invasive treatment that uses focused acoustic waves to help relieve pain and stimulate healing in injured tissues. A handheld device is placed on the skin over the painful area and delivers controlled pulses that travel into the tendon, ligament, muscle or bone.

These waves create a gentle mechanical stimulus inside the tissue. That stimulus helps improve blood flow, reduce sensitivity in painful nerve endings and activate your body’s natural repair processes. Over time, this can break the cycle of chronic irritation, support collagen production and promote healthier, stronger tissue.

Shockwave Therapy is done entirely from outside the body, with no incisions and minimal downtime, making it an attractive option for active adults and athletes who want to avoid or delay surgery.

Why it´s done:

To naturally stimulate healing in chronic tendon, ligament and soft-tissue injuries, reduce pain and improve function without surgery or long-term dependency on pain medications.

What it helps with:

Plantar fasciitis and heel pain, Achilles tendinopathy, tennis elbow, shoulder tendinitis (including calcific tendinitis), patellar tendinopathy or “jumper’s knee”, hip and greater trochanteric pain, and other stubborn overuse or sports-related injuries.

Benefits:

Helps reduce chronic pain, improves blood flow and tissue quality, supports faster recovery, restores mobility and function, and may delay or minimize the need for more invasive procedures.

What symptoms does it help relieve?

Chronic back or neck pain

Joint pain from arthritis or degeneration

Limited mobility in knees, shoulders, or hips

Swelling or inflammation in joints or soft tissue
